About the Area

Provence is renowned for its azure skies and bright sunshine, which has attracted artists and tourists for many decades. ‘La Maison Rose’ is located in Provence on the northern edge of the village of Régusse, near to the small town of Aups, to the west of Draguignan. It is situated in the Parc Naturel Régional du Verdon in the beautiful départment of the Var. Nearby is the massive Lac de Ste, Croix and the magnificent Gorges du Verdon.

It is fabulous walking country, whether for serious hiking or just gentle strolls. It is also wonderful for cycling, with its varied landscapes and gradients. Nearby lies the Plateau de Valensole with its lavender fields and gentle slopes. More challenging are the climbs towards and along the upper gorges of the Verdon.

Régusse village is a 5 minutes drive. It has a couple of bars and restaurants, a small grocer’s shop and a SuperU supermarket which also sells petrol & diesel. The larger town of Aups is a 10-minute drive away. It has a wide range of services, bars and eateries and is the truffle centre for the region. Indeed, one or two celebrities can often be seen in the town in summer!
It is also an easy drive to the coast and the renowned Provençal towns of Cannes, St. Tropez, Fréjus, St. Raphaël and Hyères.

You can easily spend a day there. St. Maxime is approx. one hour and a half’s drive away where you can catch the boat to St. Tropez and avoid the roads.

Nice is 125 km (78 miles) away with Cannes (98 km/60 miles) and St. Tropez (80km/50 miles).
